Budgeting Your Stay

There is no secret that any Disney vacation is expensive. When you are already living on a college budget, it seems even more expensive. Here are a few tips that I have developed over my past 4 years at PSU.

  • Make note of the discounts
    • Disney often runs specials on the pricing of park passes and resorts. Take note of these before you start planning your trip.
  • Bring your own food to the parks
    • If you’re flying your options are somewhat limited. Trail mix, granola bars, crackers, goldfish, and other snacks of the like travel very well. You should also consider things like tuna packs, microwave oatmeal/mac ‘n cheese.
    • Grocery delivery services are EASY. You can have groceries delivered to the lobby of your resort. Quick, simple, and gives you more time to spend in the parks!!!
  • Bring your water bottle
    • Stay hydrated but don’t spend all your money on water. That’s just silly.
    • There are multiple water fountains in every park (by most bathrooms). Most food locations have a beverage station with free water.
  • Pack your rain coat
    • It’s Florida. It goes from no clouds to flooding in 5 minutes. Don’t spend your money on ponchos or a new outfit because you didn’t plan ahead.

Some people like to spend their whole life savings at Disney. I honestly hope one day I can do some care free shopping in Disney World. But until then, I will be visiting the mouse with a strict budget!
